Atlantic Ocean ~ Coney Island, NY

Quite the emotional arrival today, after a handful of hours of a wonderful afternoon walk on the warmest and brightest day of 2014!!

...

Here we go…

:)

The ice cold Atlantic felt like pins & needles upon first contact–and the prickling effect wore off after a few seconds. For the fuller experience, I actually ended up tasting the water!

Reaching the Atlantic this Saturday at Coney Island!

I’ll be reaching the Atlantic this Saturday afternoon at Coney Island!!

After this, I find a home for my Chariot, and I move to Atlanta, for the spring.

Please feel encouraged to join me–in person or in spirit–as I take my final steps this Saturday!! I’ll be walking from central Brooklyn to Coney Island. Feel free to join me for minutes or for miles ;) .

Speaking to Schools… :)

At a recent high school speaking gig, sharing speaking space with John Maloney, former President of Tumblr

John Maloney's presentation was after normal school hours. Not as many high schoolers chose to stay over to attend, which was a bit disappointing, because his words hold a wealth of great information. I don't know how many of them perceived what a fantastic opportunity it was to have the opportunity to meet and personally interact with John, former President of Tumblr. Those who stayed received a wealth of great information and advice... ;)

Taking the stage first, I had the opportunity to meet, interact with, and speak to a variety of artsy kids ;)

Today’s 10k in the Snow

Today’s 10k was not a day in which I walked alone. NBC News photographer John B. joined me between Queens and NY’s Upper West Side, my most current “assignment” before proceeding on to Brooklyn. The more experienced photographer he is, John was able to avoid “foggy lens syndrome” on his DSLR’s lens. Secret: he kept it outside his coat–I kept tucking mine within, LOL…

We start the day coming from Queens. Seen here, we're about to walk the Queensboro / 59th Street Bridge.
